00168 - Operator Nick Lavery, Meet Nick, a true warrior and leader. Born and raised in Massachusetts, he serves as an active-duty member of the U.S. Army Special Forces, also known as the Green Berets. Despite losing his leg in an insider attack during his deployment to Afghanistan, Nick's determination never wavered. He underwent surgeries and recovery, embracing a prosthetic at Walter Reed National Medical Military Center, and returned to his unit instead of retiring. Nick made history as the first above-the-knee amputee to return to combat as a Special Forces operator. Today, he is a Special Forces Warrant Officer and a recognized subject matter expert in special operations and mission planning. His impressive accomplishments include completing challenging courses and earning prestigious awards like the Silver Star and three Purple Hearts. Nick is not only a dedicated soldier but also a husband, father, speaker, and author. His story is an inspiration to all.
